Tipped for the top in 1984 — that’s Frankie Goes To Hollywood, a Liverpool band rejoicing in the tag of ‘post-punk S&M gay cabaret act’ recently signed to the new Zang Tumb Tuum label.

With two outrageous front men, Holly Johnson and Paul Rutherford, they seem to have twice the fun and ‘Relax’, their first ever release, is clearly bound for the top.

Holly: ‘It’s like these untamed creatures meet (producer) Trevor Horn and his stamp is all over it. Because it was our first single and there’s no ready market we just had as much fun as we could when we were making it. We just thought — “buzz” — and then we’ll know when it’s right.’
