Even on some of his early work like Have Twangy Guitar Will Travel, Duane Eddy was into mixing the instrumental music of the times (like slick movie themes), combining big production with raunchy, sidearm guitar. Hence the participation of folks like Paul McCartney, James Burton, George Harrison, John Fogerty, Ry Cooder, Art Of Noise and David Lindley — all of whom give Eddy a contemporary dose of production. Check out the “superstars” not too proud to mug in front of the camera next to Sir Gretch. This is no loose jam LP. Everything rides extremely tight and in its place. The smash track is a cover of “Rockestra Theme,” produced by Paul McCartney along with “Spies.”
