Frankie goes to one… and two
Amazing double by banned pop stars
BRITAIN’S top pop group of the moment, Frankie Goes To Hollywood, achieved an amazing double yesterday.
The Liverpool band’s first two singles are now number one… AND number two in the charts.
Two Tribes topped the charts for the fourth week running. And Relax —
It is the first time any group has made numbers one and two with their first two releases.
Frankie’s debut single, Relax, first topped the charts in January after being banned by tile BBC for being sexually explicit.
Ecstasy
Then Two Tribes, rocketed straight into the charts at number one, despite the video being banned by the BBC for being “too violent”.
The double top has only been achieved four times before, by Elvis Presley, John Lennon, and twice by the Beatles. Last night Frankie’s lead singer, Holly Johnson, said: “I’m in absolute ecstasy. I suppose.
“We have already celebrated Relax, and we have already celebrated Two Tribes. So at the moment we are working on things for the future.”
