BRITISH SALES of the first two Frankie Goes to Hollywood singles now exceed three million.

Relax has sold 1,685,000, whilst ‘Two Tribes has turned in a useful 1,480,000. Consequently ‘Relax is now the fourth best selling single of all-time, and ‘Two Tribes is ranked eleventh. Further progress for ‘Two Tribes is assured, but ‘Relax will have a tough job climbing any further, as the third placed single, John Travolta and Olivia Newton-Johns ‘Youre The One That I Want is nearly 200,000 sales ahead.

The 12-inch version of ‘Relax has now toped 600,000 but seems unlikely to pass New Orders ‘Blue Monday. But combined sales of the various 12-inch versions of ‘Two Tribes come to 807,000, a staggering total which may never be beaten — but I once said that about ‘Blue Monday.

Finally, ‘Two Tribes and ‘Relax have both sold-out runs of 40,000 cassettes, and retire as joint best selling cassingles ever…
